Miley Cyrus is marking the release of her latest collaboration with Pharrell Williams!
On Thursday night, at the stroke of midnight, the 31-year-old singer teased her new track titled “Doctor (Work It Out),” a joint effort with the esteemed musician and producer, Pharrell Williams, 50, on Instagram.
In the snippet shared on her profile, Cyrus can be seen grooving to the beat of the song while belting out the catchy lyrics, “Let me work it out/hey, ooh/Let me work it out/yeah/Let little mama work it out/oh, ooh, ooh/Wanna work it out/Mmm (wanna work it out).” The post, also featuring Williams, announced the song’s official release.
Cyrus further built anticipation for the track by sharing behind-the-scenes photos from the accompanying music video on her Instagram Story, leading up to the song’s premiere.
Additionally, she reposted a segment from earlier in the week, featuring a glimpse of herself tapping her legs at the start of the video, singing, “I could be your doctor/Well, I could be your doctor/And I could be your nurse/I think I see the problem/It’s only gon’ get worse/The medicine she gave you, well, that will never work/I need to rock you baby before your body bursts/Let me work it out.”
“Doctor (Work It Out) MARCH 1 @pharrell,” Cyrus had captioned the earlier post.
Meanwhile, Williams shared Cyrus’s photos and snippets from the music video on his Instagram story, along with a Spotify screenshot of the track.
In the music video, Cyrus flaunts her arm tattoos in a variety of chic ensembles, including a sparkling minidress, a silver sequin crop top and shorts, and a voluminous blue jacket. The full-length video showcases Cyrus singing and dancing against a range of captivating backdrops, interspersed with close-ups of her lips as she delivers the song’s lyrics.
Furthermore, Cyrus pays homage to the ’70s icon Raquel Welch with a hairstyle reminiscent of Welch’s look at the 2024 Grammys in February. The glamorous, voluminous hairdo was crafted by Cyrus’s longtime hairstylist Bob Recine, who aimed to blend a ’70s Barbarella vibe with a contemporary punk edge.
“I’ve been working with Miley for a long time and tonight we wanted to create different than last year, with a style that felt like it had a ’70s, Barbarella feel while still having a modern, punk edge,” Recine shared with PEOPLE. “By creating a big hair look, while still leaving some of the teasing visible, it allows the look to maintain a fresh, sexy feeling.”
