Oprah Winfrey shines at the 2024 GLAAD Media Awards!
During the ceremony on Thursday, the 70-year-old Winfrey was presented with the Vanguard Award alongside Niecy Nash-Betts. She made a stunning impression at the event in a floor-length black blazer dress accentuated with a purple collar and front buttons.
The esteemed TV personality styled her hair elegantly in loose curls and adorned her ensemble with dazzling statement earrings, adding to the glamor of the occasion held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
Known for her longstanding advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community, Winfrey elevated her attire with pointed black heels as she graciously accepted the award on stage.
In her acceptance speech, she expressed her gratitude for the “special honor” of receiving the Vanguard Award for her allyship, emphasizing the significance of addressing the audience as the “best room ever.”
Later, Winfrey was spotted wearing the same striking blazer dress outside the Jimmy Kimmel Live! studios, exuding confidence. She later changed into a mustard-colored sweater and jeans for her appearance on the show, where she was complimented by the host for looking youthful.
During the interview, Winfrey reflected on her transformative experience with double knee surgery in 2021, revealing that it prompted a commitment to prioritize her health and well-being, leading to her weight loss journey.
Recently, Winfrey has been paying tribute to The Color Purple, notably donning various purple ensembles. At the Golden Globes in January, she made a statement in a custom royal purple Louis Vuitton body-con dress paired with matching shoes, which took an astonishing “600 hours” to create, according to Winfrey herself.
In December, Winfrey discussed her decision not to appear in the 2023 reimagining of The Color Purple, explaining that while a cameo might have been fitting for a church scene, she believed it could be distracting and preferred to leave the spotlight to Whoopi Goldberg, who had a small role in the film.
Reflecting on her choice, Winfrey emphasized the special significance of Goldberg’s involvement, highlighting the unique impact of her absence from the project.
