Karol G’s private jet reportedly had to conduct an emergency landing on Thursday night.
As reported by local media outlet ABC7, the singer’s aircraft made an unexpected landing at Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles around 9 p.m. local time after the pilot detected smoke in the cockpit.
The jet, carrying 16 individuals, had departed from Hollywood Burbank Airport earlier that evening but had to turn back when the pilot alerted authorities about the issue mid-flight, according to ABC7.
In footage captured by the outlet, the Grammy-winning artist, 33, could be seen embracing some of her fellow passengers on the tarmac after they disembarked from the plane. Additionally, airport emergency vehicles were present upon the aircraft’s landing. There were no immediate reports of injuries, and the cause of the smoke has yet to be disclosed, according to the outlet.
A spokesperson for Karol has not yet responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Karol’s private jet is adorned with the barbed wire heart design, matching the tattoo on the singer’s left arm. In a 2022 interview with Allure, she explained, “People don’t know that this tattoo is the opener of my [next] album. I mean, literally, a lot of things start from here. The tattoo represents a moment in my life where I questioned myself a lot. I strengthened and weakened myself a lot. It was a very important moment for me personally, not for my career. For Carolina.”
The star, whose real name is Carolina Giraldo Navarro, is presently on her Mañana Será Bonito tour in Latin America and is scheduled to perform next in Guatemala on Friday.
Karol recently earned her first Grammy when she won the award for best urban music album for Mañana Será Bonito last month.
“This is my first time at [the] Grammys, and this is my first time holding my own Grammy,” she expressed while accepting the award. “I’m super happy, I’m super nervous, I’m super excited to be in front of so many legends that I admire and respect.”
“This is such a beautiful thing,” she continued. “My album has given me the best memories in my own life, my whole life — my fans that came and enjoyed my album, that gave motivation and inspiration and heal with me — thank you so much. I promise you to give you my best always, and I hope this is the first of so many.”
