Following Kate Middleton’s return home to Windsor for recovery from abdominal surgery, Prince William has been balancing select public engagements with prioritizing his family commitments.
However, today, the Prince unexpectedly withdrew from a scheduled appearance at a Thanksgiving Service, citing a personal matter, as confirmed by Kensington Palace.
The Prince was slated to attend a service at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, alongside Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family, to commemorate the life of King Constantine of the Hellenes, who passed away in January and served as William’s godfather.
Minutes before the service commenced, Kensington Palace informed reporters of William’s absence due to personal reasons. It’s reported that the Prince personally contacted King Constantine’s family to convey his apologies.
In light of concerns regarding Kate’s recovery and potential speculation, a Palace aide reassured that she “continues to be doing well.” The Duchess has maintained a low profile since her surgery, which occurred on January 16 at the London Clinic.
Kensington Palace clarified that regular updates on her recovery are not planned. It was previously mentioned that she is unlikely to resume public duties until after Easter, aiming to preserve her family’s normalcy and privacy regarding medical matters.
Simultaneously, news emerged of King Charles’ withdrawal from public engagements due to undisclosed cancer treatment, while Queen Camilla maintains an active schedule.
Prince William has fulfilled some engagements, including investitures, but has adjusted his schedule to support his family. His most recent appearance was at the BAFTAs on Sunday evening.
