LeBron James etches his name in the annals of basketball history!

In the second quarter of Saturday’s Los Angeles Lakers matchup against the Denver Nuggets, the 39-year-old James became the first player in NBA history to reach the 40,000-point milestone.

Following this remarkable achievement, James took to Instagram, sharing a collection of snapshots and a video from the game to commemorate the occasion. In his caption, he simply wrote, “1 of 1 👑.”

The Crypto.com Arena erupted with cheers as “LeBron James 40,000 points” flashed across screens, capturing the excitement of the moment in a video circulated on X (formerly Twitter). Beginning the game needing nine points to reach the milestone, James ended up scoring 26 points during the Lakers’ 124-114 loss to the Nuggets.

This isn’t James’ first time making history in scoring. Last February, he surpassed the 38,390-point mark during a Lakers game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, officially becoming the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, overtaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, 76, who held the record for nearly four decades. Abdul-Jabbar graciously acknowledged James’ achievement, affirming that James had earned it through hard work.

James’ recent feat adds to his legacy as one of the greatest players in NBA history.

Reflecting on his future, James expressed his desire to remain with the Lakers, stating at the All-Star Game last month that he hopes to conclude his career in Los Angeles.

While uncertain about the specifics, James emphasized his satisfaction with the Lakers organization and its rich history.
