“I just love being with them and seeing what they’re doing, what they’re capable of doing – the joys, just the shifts of interest,” the golf legend said of his children in 2011. “It’s just fun. We have a great time together.”
The golf icon’s son is competing in a preliminary round for the Cognizant Classic on Thursday
Charlie, Tiger Woods’ son, is aiming to go pro.
The 15-year-old is participating in a PGA Tour pre-qualifier Thursday to try to play the Cognizant Classic in Florida from Feb. 29 to March 3, the PGA Tour announced on its website Wednesday. Charlie will compete at Lost Lake Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida, which is one of the four pre-qualifying locations for the Classic. A total of 25 players will move on to a full qualifier on Monday, from which four will get the chance to play in the Cognizant Classic with pros like Rickie Fowler and current world No. 2 Rory McIlroy,
The son of the 82-time PGA Tour champion will be only 15 years and 21 days old if he makes it, USA Today reported. This will beat his father, 48, who played his first Tour event when he was 16.
Charlie has played with his father in the two-player PNC Championship before, which has teams of a major winner and a relative. Tiger and Charlie came in second in the event in 2021, according to ESPN.
Tiger also has a daughter, Sam Alexis, 16, with his former wife Elin Nordegren. She joined the pair at the PNC Championship in December 2023, when she was her father’s caddie for the first time at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.
In a video posted on both the PGA Tour and PNC Championship’s Instagram accounts, Sam was by her father’s side and talked to him while she wiped one of his clubs.
“Sam Woods is her father’s caddie for the first time today ❤,” the caption of the post said.
