Selena Gomez and boyfriend Benny Blanco are in a “wonderful” place!
The 31-year-old actress from Only Murders in the Building visited New Music Daily on Apple Music 1 and talked with host Zane Lowe about her new single “Love On” on Thursday.
Gomez also shared how her relationship with Blanco, 35, gives her a sense of security while talking about her newest song.
“Without getting into too much detail, I think it’s just really important to meet someone that respects you, and I think it’s really nice to also lean on someone who understands the world that I live in. But I’d have to say overall it’s the safest that I feel and it’s been really lovely and I’ve only grown through it, so it’s awesome.”
The star’s record producer and she made their relationship public in December 2023, but they have a longer history.
They worked together on the song “I Can’t Get Enough” in 2019, which also had Tainy and J Balvin as artists.
Gomez confessed to Lowe, 50, that she doesn’t “feel very safe in a lot of rooms” when she talked about how she decides who to collaborate with.
“But I find that when I work with new people, it’s actually really fun to connect on what they’re walking through in life, and it’s like, oh, working with some great songwriters who know friends of friends and things like that. But I think it’s also important that I stay with my core group because they’re the people that can crack the code with me the best. They’re the ones that can really help me explain what I want to say.”
Gomez posted a snippet of her new music video for “Love On” on her social media, along with pictures from the video shoot. “Omg !!!” Blanco commented on her Instagram carousel, expressing his admiration for his girlfriend’s new project — and her stylish Parisian outfits.
Gomez also revealed to Lowe in an earlier interview that she lived in the French city for two months and described it as “one of the most romantic” places.
The couple also enjoyed some romance on Valentine’s Day.
“🤍 I love you,” Gomez captioned a photo of her and her beau that she posted to her Instagram Story last week. He also expressed his affection, sharing a picture of the “Wolves” singer grinning as she sat in the backseat of a car with a furry coat and a white scarf on her head.
“💜 my valentine,” Blanco wrote.
In January, a source close to the pair told PEOPLE Gomez was “super happy and present” since she’s been dating Blanco.
