Get ready to sprint, not stroll: Chipotle is reintroducing its chicken al pastor.
The beloved protein option is making a comeback at all Chipotle locations across North America, the United Kingdom, and Europe starting this Tuesday, but it’s only available for a limited time.
Originally introduced in March 2023, the flavorful chicken al pastor stayed on menus until August of that year. Since its departure, fans have inundated Chipotle’s social media channels with requests for its return.
According to a press release, the demand for “bringing back Chicken al Pastor” on social media has been three times higher than any other limited-time offering in the brand’s history.
Customers went wild for the grilled chicken marinated with peppers, pineapple, lime juice, and cilantro. In fact, during its previous run, one in every five transactions included the chicken al pastor, the company revealed.
Chris Brandt, Chipotle’s Chief Brand Officer, expressed excitement about the protein’s speedy return, stating, “Given the performance and the fans wanting its return so enthusiastically, we are thrilled to make this the fastest item to ever come back to Chipotle.”
However, it’s not specified how long the chicken al pastor will grace menus this time around.
The most popular chicken al pastor dish in 2023 was a burrito bowl featuring white rice, black beans, tomato salsa, roasted corn salsa, cheese, and guacamole. This favorite option is now available for online ordering under the name “Most Ordered Chicken al Pastor Bowl.”
Meanwhile, Dairy Queen is also resurrecting a beloved item, confirming the return of the Cherry Cone Dip for ice cream enthusiasts.
